Help with Ranger/Elem - Guild Wars Forums

I picked this class to start with, figuring it would be a good mix, i am upto lvl 8 post, and it just seems that i can't do much of anything? Should i hold out hope that i will get better? I find its very hard to take down mobs, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I notice a lot of groups want either a tank or a monk and i am neither?

thinking of starting over and doing elem/mon but not sure, but i do not want to be a war/mon as everyone is this type. I am just hoping the make some minor tweaks to the rangers, as an example, their pets there is no concreate information on them/
